How to take care of your oil paint brushes
Inevitably, the pens used for coloring become dull, discolored, and the tips of the hairs may begin to spread.
Oil painting involves the use of very harsh chemicals (such as thinner) that you can use to remove oil paint from pens for cleaning, but they damage the pens in the process.
Disappointing because good pens for cheap oil paint – usually don’t seem worth buying if they only last a few painting sessions.
Glad to hear that there is more for your worn-out pens and new ones to prevent them from becoming misshapen and misshapen.
Follow these simple tricks and your pens will last longer, hold more color, and be usable in general (this will save you from buying new pens every few months). saves once!).
Tip 1: Revive your old brushes
First of all, how do you revive old fonts that have seemingly passed the point of no return?
I bet you have a few of these. Do not throw them away!
There is a way to fix old pens that are flat, dry, spread and discolored.
It is even possible to turn completely unmovable and movable ones back into a usable state.
So there is a secret formula that you must use when doing this.
The supplies you need to remove dried oil paint from brushes
You need instant thinner cleaner to do this for the brush too, you can use solvent instead of brush cleaning, it’s much better for the brush fibers. It is a cleanser, restorer, preservative and softener.
(Of course, only for dry pens, never wipe the soft brush with instant thinner)
There are two other items I recommend getting before cleaning: rubber gloves to protect your hands from the paint and a silicone brush cleaner to help lather and remove paint from the brush.
How to remove dried oil paint from a brush
1. First wash your brush with warm water.
2. Then swirl it in the instant cleaning thinner.
Tip 2: Get a suitable washer pen
A good brush cleaner is a useful kit for washing soft brushes.
You know that if you put a brush upside down in solvent, the bristles will loosen. You have to dip the brush in the solvent to use more of the paint.
I recommend this washer pen.
(In Iran: Vesta pen wash instead of oil thinner)
After some time, the oily thinner will make you use the brush cleaner available in the market.
Tip 3: Avoid deforming the brush hand
When the paint gets stuck in the brush, the hair becomes misshapen.
If you’re just cleaning with solvent and a cloth, the paint is nearly invisible this way. The pens are rock solid and spread.
To prevent the brush from drying out and solidifying, clean it like this:
1. If you have a brush, you process and place your brushes in a suitable solvent. This loosens the paint from the brush and makes it easier to clean.
It is not a good idea to put your pens upside down in a glass of solvent because this can cause the pens to spread.
Instead, hold the pens there for a few seconds.
2. Dip your pens in the solvent. I recommend that you can use a mixture of 30% thinner and 70% oil, but not always.
4. Wipe the brush on a cloth – friction will remove the excess paint.
5. Then wash the brush in warm water and dry it. Regular airing will keep your paintbrush looking like new for many years.
6. Rinse thoroughly to remove soap and wrap the tip in a paper towel. Allow the hair to dry to maintain its shape
After draining with thinner solvent and oil, dip the brush in liquid or soap and remove the excess colors with a small brush and then rinse with lukewarm water to clean the brush.
With this method, the life of your brush will be equal
Tip #4: Clean up after a session
I’ve made the mistake before of putting my pencils away a few days after painting and coming back to find the oil completely gone in the cleanup. The paint is completely dry once it’s dry, so you can go ahead and be very regular about it – your pens will thank you for it later.
