ABOUT ME
I am Roya Rastegarsani, an Iranian contemporary visual artist, educator, researcher, and lecturer whose work bridges the rich artistic heritage of Persia with contemporary expression.
My academic background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) specializing in Executive Management. Alongside my academic studies, I completed professional training in Hyperrealism, Realism, Miniature Painting, and other classical painting techniques under distinguished Iranian artists.
Painting has been my passion since childhood. Throughout the years, I have developed a unique artistic language inspired by Persian architecture, traditional tilework, carpets, and the rich cultural heritage of Iran. By combining these timeless elements with contemporary female figures, I create artworks that build a visual dialogue between tradition and modernity.
Working primarily with oil on canvas, my paintings are recognized for their rich textures, intricate details, and symbolic storytelling. Every artwork reflects themes of identity, history, resilience, memory, and cultural continuity, inviting viewers to explore deeper emotional and spiritual connections.
Alongside my artistic practice, I have conducted extensive research in Art Therapy, with a particular focus on the therapeutic role of visual arts for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). My research explores how creative expression and painting can enhance emotional development, communication, concentration, self-confidence, and cognitive growth in children with neurodevelopmental differences.
I am also committed to art education and currently serve as the Dean of the Art Department at Prosperity College of Canada, where I mentor emerging artists, develop educational programs, and promote creative learning.
My artistic and educational contributions have received international recognition. I was selected among the Top 13 Women of Iran, invited as the first speaker at TEDx Omid in Iran, and awarded the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Golden Visa in recognition of my artistic achievements, original style, and cultural contributions.
Today, my works are held in private and international collections, and I continue to create art that preserves the beauty of Persian culture while embracing innovation and contemporary artistic expression.
